Hi there,
First of all, I have to give full credits for the concept design for this character, which was done by ALEX ALVAREZ. I didn't want to steal his idea, not at all, I got his drawings from a friend of mine who wanted to see how to model from sketches, at the time, since I'm not a MAYA user, I haden't seen those images nor the model before, so, I hope Alex or you guys won't get mad at me
If you want to see all of my wip images and also some animation tests which I did you can check out this wip theread hear at CGTalk. LINK
As for the techinque. Most of it is described in the wip thread but I write it in short here as well. I started with a plane (as from 99% I always do) and by extruding I got this very heavy mesh (almost 10,000 polygons unmeshsmoothed) which you can see HERE. Then I did countless tests with shaders, lighting and textures to get the result I was after. After that, I'd decided to do some animation tests and also the rig, you can see all of that in the wip thread. In the end, because I'm really short on my spare time, I at least wanted to finish a single illustration with this guy and since it had always had to be a humorous animation/illustration I chose this theme. I hope the title of this image fully describes the looks of the demon and the theme as well.
Hope you will like it and enjoy it at least as much as I enjoyed making it and also post some comments.
Thank you, cheers...
